Went to Kyoto Washinkan for tea ceremony demonstration. Was welcomed warmly. We were helped to change into traditional Japanese kimonos for the ceremony. My wife’s outfit was excellent - the full works - looked fantastic and included having her hair styled. We did a little origami, which was fun. The main event of the tea ceremony was accompanied by a very comprehensive commentary by our hostesses that included the history and philosophy of the practice.A couple of hours passed very quickly. Very relaxing and educational. An afternoon well spent.

We did a tea ceremony and origami experience. The hosts were delightful and we felt very welcomed. You got to pick your kimono's / omnisash and have some photos (with a samurai sword if you wanted).The tea ceremony itself was insightful and humbling, you got to learn some Japanese in the process whilst understanding more about the culture. You got typical sweet treats before getting to try make the matcha tea yourself.The origami was fun and engaging with other guests.

We hebben een fantastische ochtend gehad! We mochten alle drie een kimono naar keuze uitzoeken en werden daarna geholpen met het aantrekken ervan. Ook ons haar werd mooi opgestoken. Omdat je niet elke dag een kimono draagt, deden we eerst een korte fotoshoot.Daarna kregen we een origamiworkshop. Alles werd rustig en met veel geduld uitgelegd, waardoor het voor iedereen goed te volgen was. We sloten de ochtend af met een traditionele theeceremonie. Alle gebruiken werden stap voor stap uitgelegd en we mochten zelf ook thee bereiden.De dames die ons begeleidden waren ontzettend vriendelijk, geduldig en behulpzaam. Dankzij hun enthousiasme en gastvrijheid was het een bijzondere ervaring. We nemen een prachtige herinnering aan Japan mee naar huis. Zeker een aanrader!
