As someone who had no knowledge of Japanese traditional clothing, I was initially hesitant to try it, fearing I might make a mistake and offend Japanese culture.Walking into Musubi-Kyoto and speaking with the staff was an amazing experience. The girl there, whom I regretfully forgot to ask her name, was very sweet and wore a yukata and glasses. She spoke English very well and patiently answered all my questions. She also helped me choose my first Yukata.I highly recommend Musubi-Kyoto for anyone wanting to try Kimono, Yukata, or other traditional clothing but doesn’t know where to start!
Tourist oriented, mostly modern traditional clothing, very size inclusive. It's a small store but packed with clothes.I visited because apparently that's one of few places to buy samue, according to the internet. Very lovely assistant, sample sizes are out to try. I bought samue for a very reasonable price, they have them at about five or six different prices, but all cotton. I briefly looked at the most expensive, Made in Japan from Kurume cloth, it was about five or six times as much as the foreign made, serged seams... so I went for a cheaper one which looked decent quality, let's see how it holds up after washing.Also, tons and tons of Yukata. I now wish I had taken a closer look!The sizing is very good for us Westerners, too. I am 180cm and wear female XL back home and while the female samue pants were a bit borderline, I just bought the male style, and yukata go bigger in size and are available in store. Look no further for a beautiful useful souvenir. Also, note they have two locations.This location is nice, not so crowded, some nice looking Patisserie, Misuyabari and Kyukyodo shops around the corner.PS: Tax free shopping is available, you need to carry your passport at all times anyway.
Vandaag heb ik in deze winkel een bezoekje gebracht. Ik werd vriendelijk geholpen door de dame. Ik kwam eigenlijk voor 1 kimono maar had er uiteindelijk meer gekocht want het assortiment was zo goed !Verder vind ik het persoonlijke aandacht fijn ik kon alles op mijn gemak uitproberen en passen, ik werd supervriendelijk geholpen.
Wir haben hier eine wundervolle Yukata mit passenden easy Obi gekauft, eine passende Unterjacke, und zusätzlich noch einen Jinbei. Alles hat eine sehr gute Qualität und die Dame die uns beraten hat war ganz bezaubernd. Lieb, hilfreich und geduldig mit meinem gebrochenem japanisch. Würde auf jeden Fall das nächste Mal wieder hier vorbeischauen.
今天找了一個下午的半纏，終於在這裡找到喜歡合適的款式花色。店員小姐很有耐心笑臉迎人，我們試了好幾件都一直打開給我們試穿，真不好意思。買超過5000還能免稅，真大推。

The lady is patient with me and my brother as we were in there for quite a while considering whether to buy or not. Price is alright considering the quality and pattern they have.

This is a really nice shop with attentive staff, good quality kit and a reasonable price. So why only 3 stars? Unfortunately the yukata I bought turned out to be jinbei, despite packaging all indicating a yukata was inside. So check the packet before you leave, or at least before you're back in your home country and then you will have a 5 star experience.
