Lovely hidden gem with very beautiful pieces of pottery made by the elderly couple. The shopkeeper doesn’t speak English but tried hard to use a translation app to convey his message. He was also very patient and opened his drawers to show me other pieces which were not on display for me to admire. I appreciate the patience as I mulled over which piece to bring home. I ended up getting a lovely flower shaped bowl with a wood-fire glaze - which I think he said (using a translation app) took him a whole week to complete. Purchase a piece if you’re in the area to support his art :)
While traveling around Japan and Mt Fuji I have found this lovely pottery shop.The owner has genuinely sparked my interest by being very humble and kind. I have seen about 30+ potteries in Japan but I felt that this is the first shop that I wanted to own a piece of his work - because how loving the guy was. No pretense, no ego, no show. Although I don't speak the language, we were able to understand each other and he explained how long the piece needed to be baked and the technique behind the art.I bought three pieces, two bowls and one cup. Really stunning art, price was also reasonable.Definitely worth of visiting if you are near Shiraito waterfalls.
Beautiful shop with gorgeous pieces! Run by a lovely old couple. Japanese only but the neighbor speaks English haha
