In mid-February, my family finally visited my hometown, Taragi in Kumamoto, and stayed at Villa Yuunobi, a place I had really wanted to visit.The business owner was very kind to us. We had Yakuzen breakfast (based on traditional Chinese medicinel) she made. Let me tell you about this villa for those who are interested in or don't know anything about it.Villa Yuunobi was named after the building's former owner and Haiku poet, Munakata Yuunobi, who was a descendant of Higo Munakatake-family, the high priest of Munakata-Taisha Shrine. This building was used as his book library for a long time.The building was built in the Edo era (around two hundred years ago), even though it was made from wooden material. The business owner, a first-class architect, renovated it into a cool, modern, and functional hotel. It has a high ceiling and an earthen wall, which helps us relax.My father learned haiku from Munakata-sensei, who was called 'a walking dictionary.' Every Thursday, my dad would ask him about natural phenomena he didn't know. Munakata-sensei would then search his memory or his book library and tell us what they were. There was no big public library or no Internet at that time. So I was happy to stay in his renovated book library, which had contained his knowledge.Villa Yuunobi has two beds and three futon sets, along with a spacious living room, a mini kitchen equipped with dishes and cutlery, a fridge, and a bathroom. You can meet Kumamon on the sofa. Although there is no TV, this is actually a great advantage for you to enjoy sounds of nature, such as birds chirping, the gentle wind, and rain. The villa is surrounded by a variety of flowers and trees. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit. The villa also provides Wi-Fi with no issues accessing the internet.You can walk to several restaurants, Japanese izakayas, cafes, a supermarket, and convenience stores.Several familiar bottles of shochu (distilled spirits) from Taragi are lined up on the shelf. You can choose any bottle you like and then place the money on the tray. Each bottle costs approximately 1,000 to 2,000 yen (not per cup!).The breakfast I mentioned above is an option, priced around 1,000 yen per person. It is served at Kotonoha Cafe, which is located on the same premises as the villa.I highly recomend it. Good Dashi soup works very well for vegetable cuisines! After breakfast, I ordered coffee that was served with nice warabi-mochi sweets. She served a pot of yakuzen tea that looked as beautiful as it was tasty without suger.
とくかく最高でした！！スタッフさんが本当優しく、丁寧に色々対応してもらったおかげで友人と本当に楽しく過ごすことができました！！古民家の中も綺麗で大満足！BBQも肉が美味しく自然の中で癒されました。また利用したい！スタッフさんに会いたいです！熊本遊びに行く時は利用させていただきます！
とても静かなところで、ゆっくり過ごせました！古民家をリノベーションした内装がとてもステキです。何より、オーナーさんが優しいです！5人で泊まりましたが、ベッドが2つ、布団が3つで、一人一人ゆったり寝ることができました👍お風呂やトイレも広くてきれいで、気持ちよく使うことができました。また泊まりに行きたいです！

周辺のオススメ
雰囲気も良く、古民家の良いところを取り入れつつ、とてもモダンで、ゆっくり一晩過ごせました夜も静かで、自然に囲まれた空間オーナーさんも、とても親切な方でしたただ、コンビニまで歩いて行くとなると、歩道がない道路なので、ちょっと危ないかなぁと思いました車では、1分らしいので車がおすすめです。
