Kuro Machiya Heritage Hotel is a neighborhood gem nestled right beside Kanazawa Castle and comes highly recommended.Its location is superb and within walking distance to all the sights - Omicho Market, Higashiyama and Nagamachi districts. It was especially pleasant after a long day out to come “home” to this beautiful Machiya - you get an immediate sense of this historic neighborhood.The design and decor of the room was sleek and modern, yet the traditional elements of heritage were well-kept. The Deluxe Room overlooks a beautiful Japanese garden, was clean and spotless, and linens were very comfortable.Kawasaki san who checked me in was also very welcoming, and provided clear instructions to the room and restaurant recommendations in the neighborhood. Kourin Sushi was fantastic, and right across the street!Overall really enjoyed staying here, and look forward to coming again. Especially in the winter!

素晴らしいホテルでした。
We had an excellent stay (as the first customers) of Kuro in late September 2022. The owners did a beautiful job renovating this machiya and making it a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. The location is excellent, right next to Kanazawa Castle. It was a great home base for us as we explored all that Kanazawa has to offer. The shared kitchen area is well appointed and we enjoyed using the Balmuda kettle to make a relaxing cup of tea the evening of our arrival. Jiro provided excellent recommendations of things to do in the area, how to get around town and also restaurants to try. We had amazing meals at Huni and Plat House, per his suggestions. The living/lounge space at the front of our suite was lovely - I wish we had even more time to spend there. And the beds were very comfortable - we slept very well each night. We strongly recommend Kuro! We would love to come back and experience it again.
