(2013年3月 京都市考古資料館)Heian Palace (Heian Palace), which was the center of national affairs during the Heian period, is located in the north center of Heiankyo, Ichijo Oji (current Ichijo Dori) in the north, Nijo Oji (current Nijo Dori) in the south, and Higashi Omiya Oji in the east. Is located on the east side of the intersection of the two alleys. In the Heian period, the lacquer room was located on the north side of the extension of the Masachikamachi alley, and the Masachika was located on the south side of the line of Niwa Elementary School. The lacquer room was a workshop for making lacquer products, and Masachika was a government office that created and managed a list of royal families. In addition, on the northeast side of the intersection, there is a Hyogo dormitory that manages weapons, manufactures and repairs, and teaches military music. It was.Heian Palace was also devastated after the Kamakura period and was called the infield for a long time. As a result of further redevelopment in the surrounding area, many temples lined up in this area and people became crowded. In this way, as a result of the progress of regional development, most of the Heian Palace and other areas have been destroyed. In the area, a pit containing relics from the Heian period (a hole containing the relics) was found, and in the surrounding survey, the remains of a road gutter at the western limit of Heian Palace were also found.
