Nijō-jō Uchibori (二條城内堀) refers to the inner moat of Nijō Castle in Kyoto, Japan. This defensive waterway surrounds the main keep, enhancing security. Built in 1603 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, it reflects classic Edo-period castle design. The moat’s tranquil waters contrast with the imposing stone walls, creating a scenic yet strategic feature.
The Uchibori referred to is the moat that runs around the castle walls. Quite green in colour, it nevertheless has a population of fish thriving in it.
