What a pleasure to meet Our guide Taiji Yamakawa! My son and I took a bucketlist trip to Okinawa and wanted to learn more about the Kendo martial art. This Kendo experience was intimate, informative, and great exercise too! Our guide explained to us the importance of respect in the Kendo spirit and to be passionate with movements and your voice. We were fitted with our Dogi and Hakama (upper and lower garments) and taught step by step basic movements, strike points, equipment names, stances and how to use the Shinai (bamboo sword). If you are not Japanese speaking, it is helpful to bring a portable translator tool/app to ask more in depth questions easier. Our guide was very patient and helpful with corrections for a proper experience. This is a very physical activity so stay hydrated and prepare to sweat. Next, it was time to battle each other and exhibit all we had learned. Thank you Taiji for such a memorable experience! Thank you for opening the sacred space of the Dogo for us. We look forward to hearing of your championships! Go shidō itadaki kōeideshita. Arigatōgozaimashita!
Had a very immersive experience in Kendo. Instructor is very lively and taught us well, going through the drills and guiding us towards sparring. Was fun for a group of us!
I highly recommend this session! This was a proper training for the beginers. I enjoyed learning basic moves and rules of kendo. My sensei was Taiji, very dedicated kendo practitioner with more then 20 years of experience. It was amazing to learn from him! Thank you!
Brilliant experience- our teacher was very passionate about his sport and taught our small group very well. He helped us get correctly dresses, taught us etiquette and Japanese stretching before a well paced lesson in the basic movements. We went on to do trial strikes before playing a few games. Overall it was a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience a local sport with a long history.
A truly wonderful experience. It was a pleasure learning about kendo and being taught the different forms and techniques. The instructor was very kind and informative. He had a thorough knowledge of kendo and provided great instructions. Highly recommend this experience.

It’s my first time to join kendo experience tour. The master is very professional and teaches students with humour. The instructor teaches students step by step so no need to be worried about the difficulty. I am able to experience kendo with relaxing atmosphere. Also had great time to know more about Japanese culture.これは私の初めての剣道体験。先生は親切でユーモアがある。それから、日本の文化も体験できる、すごく嬉しかった。
Such a unique experience the sensei's were really helpful they made sure we follow the safety protocols too ! 私はうれしかったです。
