Stopped by on a Nov 3rd which turned out to be holiday so they were closed. A super nice lady walking in the neighborhood who knew the owners knocked on the door for us to wake them up. The older owner invited us in and called what I think was her son to come by and help us even though he had planned on taking the holiday.You can spend a lot of time there, try and figure out what you want before. The people are so nice. We really had just that weekday and didn’t know it was culture day, I feel so lucky that we were able to go there and pick from the variety of tools and the owners accommodated us.
Amazing Japanese tools for great prices! The only downside is that I didn’t stay longer.
Great tool shop for a variety of both Japanese style Kannas, Chisels (Nomi), Hammers and hammer heads, saws, and there much more on the 2nd floor. They have some nice “old stock” you should look at as well fresh new tools. Easy to spend an hour or more there looking at tools! The owners can help you as needed, but better to have an idea what tools you want. I left with 3 chisels (one being a huge timber joinery striking chisel), a smoothing plane, some nice metric rulers, two nice Kanna blades (for planes I will make), and they threw in a tote-bag which was a surprise! Recommended making the journey there from inner Tokyo. Short walk from subway. Store is on 2nd and 3rd floors mainly so if you don’t see a sign but Google Maps says you are there, you are there! Arigato to Kurashige Tools for the nice tools, I hope to return. Came from California to Japan and this was my last stop! Thanks again!
Very good shop if you’re into woodworking, for amateur as well as a professional. Owner is helpful and lets you search everything in your own pace. They have chisels (sets), planes, hammers, kitchen knives, and many more. Second hand chisels as well. Good prices for everything but you can buy very expensive tools if you would like to. Definitely worth the visit and is easy reachable if you’re staying in Tokyo (40 mins and couple mins of walking)
Esta es una de las tiendas de referencia para HAYABUSA que es el único taller en España de carpintería japonesa. Es un auténtico paraíso de herramientas manuales japonesas de alta calidad. Tienen una variedad enorme y siempre actualizan el stock. En esta tienda han comprado muchos alumnos que han aprendido en el estudio HAYABUSA por recomendación de Julio Alonso. Hemos tenido el privilegio de visitarla en nuestro último viaje a Japón y ha sido una experiencia muy positiva. Seguiremos comprando y recomendando este proveedor a todos los artesanos exigentes. Was helped by Mr. Satoshi Fujiyoshi during our trip there. He was EXTREMELY helpful and patient, answering our questions, and helping us out. We came just for the woodworking tools but also walked away with five knives as well.ABSOLUTELY HUGE selection of woodworking tools. Literally every tool imaginable (and some even beyond that).
This place is on the 3rd floor of the building. The first floor looks like a shipping warehouse. There is a little elevator just inside. It feels like trespassing but seems ok, maybe get someone’s attention to go up. The shop itself is very nice and the staff speak some English.
