九州2県に別れて住む家族の食事会で利用。桜島と錦江湾一望の景色が素晴らしい。受付から会計までのスタッフの対応は完璧。地元食材を活かした料理はどれも美味。素晴らしいワインリスト。赤ちゃんや子供さん連れのお客もおられたが、全く気にならなかった。子供さんを受け入れていることに敬意を表したい。大切な未来のお客様なのだから。駐車料が無料になるのも有り難い。

Great view, great ambiance, professional service, and the food is SPOT ON! (Long version follows-)The restaurant is called Phoenix.. but another name might be ‘Heaven’.. Almost every table has a *spectacular view of Sakurajima (weather and ash permitting). While watching the clouds gently roll over the bay towards the smokin’ volcano, here’ s what happened.. First (in English) I apologized that I didn’t have a reservation – but the hostess explained “that’s ok” ~ she politely asked me to wait and look over the menu (while she prepared the table!)..Now, I think I *always watch my dining manners & etiquette… but when one is properly seated at their table and it is completely set (‘western-style’), a switch in your head goes on. “OMG, What did my mother teach me about ALL the silverware??”..You feel *special in this kind of dining room. Not only the table but the ambiance. The upbeat classical music. The huge windows toward the bay; highlighting the incredibly powerful - Sakurajima. I was treated *special, and now I felt it too. <3I decided on the ‘Half Course’ lunch. (It was my first time.) The hostess explained the main options (“fish or meat”). She could tell me briefly about each choice. No problem. I went with the ‘fish’ option because she said it included salmon & scallop! YES!Now, the server… this guy was a total gem! The WHOLE meal, this gentleman smiled and acted like he was *genuinely happy to serve me. He had just enough English to explain each course to me with just enough detail.Look at this review so far… and still haven’t even touched the food yet! First, the ‘salad’ or ‘cold plate’. As petite as it looks, the flavors were *great. A sort of firm, mushroom (pâté?) with a mustard/mayo spread and some veggies. Sounds simple but while this medley is going on in your mouth, you are enjoying the sites across Kinko bay.Soup and bread.. This was a ‘bacon’ soup. Flavor was seasoned JUST RIGHT. And the vegetables, NOT overcooked. So the flavors AND the texture and mouth feel was very refreshing. I know… just SOUP. The server also explained about the bread. ‘Tofu bread’ and a sort of grain bread. He said to dip pieces in the olive oil, then in the mix of seasoning. This was very pleasant and flavorful. Soft warm bread with olive oil, and crunchy bits of nuts, salt, and other seasoning.The main ~ cauliflower, toasted just right. The broccoli ~ the *stalk was firm yet NOT fibrous. HOW did they cook that??! A fingerling potato with a perfectly roasted skin on it. The salmon ~ wow! Firm, flaky, AND juicy! It was topped with a mix of caramelized onions, red peppers and cheese! Sweet and salty. The scallop.. I *really think they used wine when cooking it. So flavorful and not that overpowering brine-fishy-bitter taste… just *perfect.Desert course. What can I say? YAY! Milky strawberry icecream, brownie, and some simple fruit. I ate the brownie last so it would go with the coffee. The coffee was also to my liking. Not bitter and NOT ‘watered down’. Nice aroma that sent me off on the rest of my perfect day.Thank you, Phoenix!
