Ike is a fantastic host / owner / chef. We had the traditional style room and it was more than satisfactory. The bathrooms and showers are shared, and if you opt for the full breakfast + dinner you eat together with the other guests. Ike cooks in front of you, and he is a great chef.Overall the perfect experience after a day of hiking.Dinner was served at 18.30, and we arrived a bit late at 18.15 to the guesthouse. Ike had walked around all the rooms and asked the other guests if they were ok with eating at 19.00 instead, so that me and my girlfriend had time to take a shower before dinner - what an exceptional host.I highly recommend staying at this guesthouse during your Kumano Kodo hike!
We checked in on November 4th, 2025.The manager Ike-san was great and his helper was too. Ike-san was very fluent in english, and it seemed he has some knowledge in Chinese.We arrived at the place around 5pm, as it was getting dark, and we were ushered in, given mikans to munch on, then checked in. We booked through Booking.com.The Minshuku is exactly what it is, a guest house. The rooms are simple, but all the necessities are available, bathrooms are shared, but it is part of the Kumano Kodo experience.We didn't partake in the meal option, because I wanted to check out the ONLY GROCERY STORE in Chikatsuyu, but everyone else who chose it seemed happy. The room we had was simple and it is a futon style bed, with a table, heater, etc. As a warning, if you're super sore after the hike, getting out of the bed is extra tough as it is on the floor, maybe they should install some handlebars 🤣.Overall, the few short hours we stayed was wonderful and a great welcome to our first night of Kumano Kodo, and Ike-san and his team really encompassed the spirit of Omotenashi.
2025年6月18,19日に爺さん連中4人で連泊しました。関東から車で移動後前泊し、翌朝、滝尻へバス移動の後、近露までの古道歩き。その日にまた泊まって本宮大社方面に向かいました。熊野古道、中辺路のスタート地点から歩けるギリギリの場所に位置し、バス停まで秒で行ける絶好の場所にあます。ご主人は、事前確認の時から気持ちのいい対応で、食事、お風呂、布団等々、古道歩きの疲れを癒すには充分の宿でした。場所柄、訪日客が多い様で、中国の方と流暢に話すご主人を見ていた友人が、あの人は絶対中国の人や、と間違えたほど。韓国語、英語も堪能。訪日客にとっては心強い宿でしょう。勿論日本人にも。
2024/12/29に宿泊しました。オーナーは細かいところに気付いてくれて、とても親切で非常にありがたかったです。朝ごはんのカレーも美味しかったですが、出発時に持たせてくれるお弁当がこの上なく体に沁みました。2日目は7時前に出発したのですが、おそらく発心門王子のあたりで12時でお昼だろうと仰ってました。僕が発心門王子に着いたのが11:58！すごい読みの精度でした笑。
快適な布団でぐっすり眠れて、翌日のハイキングも気持ちよくスタートできました。バス停が目の前にあるので便利です。オーナー夫婦もチェックイン時からチェックアウトまで温かく迎えてくれました。ありがとうございました。
少し古い建物で、宿泊料も高めだが、それでも安いと思えるほど、オーナー夫妻のおもてなしが素晴らしい。立地もスーパーやガソリンスタンドがすぐ近くにあり、買い物、給油がしやすいのも良い点。
近露王子から歩いて1分の場所にある宿です。英語と中国語が堪能なオーナーがホスピタリティの高い接客で宿を経営されています。設備も新しく、清掃もきれいに行き届いています。布団の寝心地も最高で、翌日のハイキングも気持ちよくスタートする事ができました。ありがとうございました。
大自然の中の絶好のロケーションの宿で、最高のサービスと美味しい夕食でおもてなしいただきました。また訪れたい素晴らしい宿でした。

Love that it’s so close to the entrance of the town. Great refuge after a long walk. Ike was amazing. He goes out of his way to make our stay comfortable. Next day, he even offered to drive us to our stop instead us taking public transport.Highly recommend Minshuku WAGO if you are staying in Chikatsuyu.
