The man selling the items is the sweetest. Please take your time to chat with him, he's eager to know a bit about your country, experiences and to share his :)
The kindest man in the shop who makes everything himself! There was a wide selection of ceramic. I got myself a beautiful matcha bowl and more. The price was reasonable, but he could easily charge more for his work! I would recommend 100%
From the outside, it's an unassuming and small shop, however once you step inside, you enter a world of amazing handmade ceramic pieces that are unique and difficult to find elsewhere. The shops owners are extremely hospitable and friendly, and have been diligently running the shop for 50+ years. I have not managed to find any other shop in Tokyo that sells such high-quality items at such affordable prices. The shop owner also mentioned that as they are starting to get old, they are not sure for how much longer they'll keep the shop open. So make sure to visit this place whilst you can ! My partner and I will definitely come back the next time we're in Tokyo.
What an amazing experience shopping in this little 'hole in the wall' pottery store. So many gems to found if you are prepared to spend the time to carefully pour through everything. I found a few items completely bespoke and are no longer made so truly special. The owner has been there for over 40 years and using translator he explains the history of each piece, and how to use or display at home. I will treasure my Japanese pottery treasures forever. 😍
Genuinely one of the best pottery shop experiences you will ever have. It is owned by the sweetest couple. We have claimed the husband as our older uncle. He was so thoughtful (and funny!!) and we communicated via translation app. He had such insightful perspective on each of the pieces, especially the matcha bowls. He kept the shop open for us as we figured out how much product to buy and which one was the right fit.He individually wrapped each of the bowls for us (without even asking) and gave us snacks. Such a heartwarming experience and you absolutely need to go here if you want to pick up some pottery. Give this couple alllllll the business, please!!
Honestly, the best pottery shop in Tokyo. It's tucked away in the middle of a street selling Korean things and not fancy at all. But it has the most beautiful local pottery bowls and lacquer serve ware. Don't go by it's face value, step in to meet it's brilliant owner and find the most exquisite pieces to bring back home. Also, the shop accepts only cash. No card. So carry lots with you - because you'll want to spend it.

This is a lovely shop in Shin Okubo (Koreatown). It’s on a smaller less busy street close to a Don Quijote. If you can’t make it out to Kappabashi Street or just want to pick up a beautiful piece, I highly recommend checking this place out. Look carefully for it because it can be easily missed due to the exterior not being flashy. Once you find it, just slide the door open and go in. There are many quality ceramics at affordable prices. I picked up 2 small hand painted dishes for 450 yen each ($3). The owner didn’t speak English well, but he used Google Translate to effectively communicate with us. He was very helpful and kind in helping us find the right dishware for our needs and telling us more about the pieces. He even gave us candy before we left. I will definitely go back next time I visit Tokyo.
