Our adult son and the only one of us who speaks Japanese wasn't feeling well but asked if we could grab takeout for dinner. We googled and found a nearby sushi place, unfortunately when we arrived the restaurant was under construction. We decided to stop at the many restaurants we had passed to see if they offered takeout. Takeout isn't as common in Japan as it is in the USA. About the 5th stop, we found Hayashi. The waiter spoke enough English that we were able to communicate, and he provided recommendations for our son.While we were waiting for our son's order, we ordered a sashimi platter. It was amazingly fresh and very tasty. It was a beautiful dish with a great selection of sashimi. Our son's order was the fried chicken, yakatori assortment, fried rice, and a caesar salad. They accidentally put the chicken on our table. It looked and smelled so good that only my maternal instinct kept me from eating it.I wish we were staying in Kofu longer because I would love to try more of their menu. The restaurant is casual and would be great for couples dinner or after work with friends.
