I used his services for a "Sworn Affidavit of Competency to Marry" BUT, and this is a big BUT, I went in person to ask the Takasaki, Gunma City Hall, if they would take his notarization instead of the US Embassy's, because the Embassy had no appointments anytime soon, and I needed to be officially married as soon as possible because of some family circumstances.Takasaki said yes and they asked me to get signatures on both forms because he isn't part of the Embassy.TL:DR his services work for the "Sworn Affidavit of Competency to Marry" BUT you have to double and triple check with your city hall first and ideally you get to talk with the same person when you go turn in the documents, so it all goes smoothly.Also, Mr. Harris was very friendly and accomodating when I used his services and needed to use an alternative payment because my credit card was locked. I will definitely use his services again in the future.
Fantastic experience. Smooth and professional. I would definitely recommend this place over the embassy. The office space is comfortable and the location is very convenient from Azabu Juban. For anyone curious, they don't offer legal advice so make sure you check with your lawyer(s) and prepare all the documentation (and bring witnesses if needed).It was a great experience getting my documents notarized and the courier service is convenient for those who need to make sure their documents reach the appropriate parties in a timely manner. US Embassy was booked 3 weeks out and Harris Firm was able to see me on the next business day. Read the website, book your appointment, show up on time / a little early, and you'll be in and out quickly - I'm completely satisfied. Will absolutely use again if in need of a notary. *Update: I needed some support to validate the notarization and the Harris Firm provided it within 24 hours at no additional charge - great customer service!
I was thoroughly fed up with the lines and security at the US Embassy in Tokyo and looking for an alternative.
