Shirakawa Gakkan, which considers itself to be a historical research association, has a beautifully kept library covering diverse topics such as history, religious studies, philosophy, anthropology, and much more. There is a main reading room and also another archival room in the back. The library building has two stories. It is staffed during regular weekday hours. However, the library is only open to Shirakawa Gakkan members and is not a public library or community library. Members of the general public are not allowed to visit. Prospective members have to apply online and pay membership dues, and then they would be allowed to enter.
