My partner, best friend and I went the February of 2024 and had a blast! He gave great drink suggestions and made a huge effort to make us feel welcome even though we didn’t know any Japanese. I’m not sure why other reviews were are saying he overcharged since we drank a lot and didn’t rack up a big bill. I lost my phone when we went and he drove to the bar to open it up just to give me back my phone. Mind you it was early in the morning and we stayed until close. Complete gentleman and we hope to drop by our next visit to Japan.
My little lady and I had the good fortune to pop in here on a whim after hiking down from Snow Monkey Park. We were positively CHARMED by every aspect of this place. Smoking is permitted so I lit up my corn cob pipe and enjoyed meeting a 99 -year-old war veteran. Though our conversation was a bit strained (due to our lack of Japanese comprehension), we delighted in his karaoke renditions. The bartender and his lady friend were warm, welcoming people with plenty of good cheer to go around. The walls are adorned with portraits of Marilyn Monroe and works of art penned by the proprietor, himself. If you're ever in Shibu-Onsen, kick up your keep at Uncle Tom!
Great little place! If you want to have a drunken night of Karaoke filled with Japanese whisky and beer then look no further! Also, the owner is one honest guy and should you be a drunken idiot (like me) and hand him way too much money when the bill comes, he will refuse it.
