My husband and I were looking for some interesting, crafty activities to do while on our trip to Tokyo.We found Miyako Andon's Instagram page and saw that they were offering workshops to make your own andon lamp.We booked a slot just for the two of us and got to spend a couple of hours with the business owners.Toshiko was our main guide and she was very friendly, informative and just nice to have a chat with. She was patient and kind enough to answer our questions about Japanese culture and made us better understand a bit about the andon lamps and their history - which was lovely.We got to choose our favorite patterned washi paper to add to the wooden lamp frame that was provided.It was a unique and relaxing activity and the inside of the atèlier is filled with different andon lamp shapes that give you a warm, calm feeling.ありがとうございます for the experience!If we ever come back to Tokyo - we would love to do a follow-up workshop :)
