We had a great stay - 2 adults and 5 teen boys. Everything was provided - comfortable bedding, towels, washing machine. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishware and cutlery, pots and pans. Comfortable living areas with space. Only downside was paying additional daily rate for a charcoal bbq. Fly screens on windows was a big plus! Plenty of ventilation with windows and fans and located under trees which helps keep the chalet cool enough in summer. Located on a Quiet lane.

Based on a recommendation from a friend, we booked a 2-bedroom Big Bear Chalet on the same dates as another family we were travelling with in January 2019. When we arrived, we found that our chalets were adjoining with a connecting door – which was perfect. For a family of 4 including two older teenagers, the 2-bed chalet had plenty of room. We had a queen size bed in our room – and our boys each had a queen-sized bed of their own in the large 2nd bedroom.||||Our host, Darren was great with his communication from our initial booking in March 2018 through to our arrival. Our two families arrived together and Darren picked us up from the Happo Bus Station with all our gear. He then took the time to brief us on the amenities of our chalet and the services his team offered (including discount lift tickets to Happo-one, daily shopping shuttle, regular towel replacements and transport to restaurants not within walking distance). ||||As an Australian, Darren understands the priorities for Australians travelling with teenagers – like a functional kitchen, reliable appliances, drying room, good heating, smart TV and fast wi-fi. The relaxing private onsen in the chalet was just brilliant and a great way to relax after a day on the snow.||||In the months leading up to our trip, Darren provided advice on the best options for ski/board hire, transport to & from Hakuba, restaurants, etc. For first time travellers to Japan and to Hakuba, Darren’s advice was really valuable and saved us hours in time trying to work out the best options. For the best restaurants (like Hummingbird), I suggest you book well in advance as they are booked months ahead.||||The location is excellent – with a 5-10 minute walk to the Kokusai lift on Happo-one. Just across the road from our chalet, there was a bus stop for the various free shuttles to the other ski resorts like Iwatake, Hakuba 47 and Tsugaike Kogen. Darren provided timetables for the various shuttles to make it as easy as possible. ||||There are also many good quality restaurants within walking distance. We often had dinner in though as we preferred to just chill at “home” and watch Netflix after big days on the slopes.||||Our stay at Big Bear Chalets was just brilliant really – and I don’t think we could have made a better choice for our accommodation on our first visit to Hakuba. Thanks to Darren and his team for all the great advice and for looking after us so well during our stay.

2人のDarrenの丸太小屋で家族の雪旅行に2週間驚かされたため、もっと良い場所を選ぶことはできなかったでしょう。私達全員12人と2つのキャビンの間のボード・スキー・荷物のための十分なスペースがあった。ダレンは私達に偉大な地元のアドバイスをくれ、地元のレストランやスキーリゾートへの予約/送迎のお手伝いをさせていただきました。私たちの宿泊施設はhappo-oneリフトまで歩いて行け、他のリゾートへ行くためにバス停の近くにありました。山で一日過ごした後、家に帰って温泉に座るのは素敵でした。Darrenは素晴らしいホストでした。戻ってくるのを待つことができません。（原文）Spent 2 amazing weeks in 2 of Darren's log cabins for a family snow trip and could not have picked a better place! Luxurious, warm, spacious and homely and a great location to stay. Very central spot in town and close to local pubs, ski rental and restaurants. Management is very friendly and helpful with everyday shuttle bus to grocery shops, ATM's, chemist's etcAlso great knowledge where to ski day to day with weather and updates, ticket sales and discount prices also. Very recommended! Thanks for a great experience 😁😁😁

Spent 2 amazing weeks in 2 of Darren's log cabins for a family snow trip and could not have picked a better place! Had plenty of space for all 12 of us and our boards/skis/luggage between the two cabins. Darren gave us great local advice and was always more than happy to help us out for bookings/transport to local restaurants or ski resorts even going as far as to drop us back to Nagano train station when we sadly came to the end of our stay. Our accommodation was a short walk to happo-one lifts and close by to the bus stops to get to the other resorts. Stayed in the 2 room challet in Feb and was hands down the best snow accomodation i've had. We only had 4 people but there would be more than enough room for 6 or 7 people. Darren and his team had excellent local knowledge and were happy to help out with anything we needed from resteraunt and bar reccomendations to in depth knowledge of the mountains for advice on the best slopes to board day-to-day. Also has a bus service daily to help get to town to buy groceries and anything else you dont want to walk for. Would definately stay here again and would reccomend to friends.

優れた！夏（8月）に行ってきました。宿泊施設は、ハイキングが可能な他のエレベーターに接続する展望スポットまで徒歩約5分の便利な場所にあります。また、エバーグリーンアウトドアカンパニー（自転車のレンタルや川や山のツアーの手配）、東急ホテル（温泉）、ビーチバー、パブ（素晴らしい屋外バーとファイヤーピットがありました。町はありますが）まで徒歩数分です。少し離れたところにあるオーナーは、町への往復を数回往復するなど、必要なときに交通機関の手配を喜んでお手伝いしてくれました。プロパティは新しく、非常にきれいで、よく配置され、在庫があります。東京からの5日間の休暇にぴったりでした。それは静かで、涼しく、美しく、平和で、そして快適でした。また、サービスは非常にフレンドリーでした。私たちは間違いなく戻ってきます。（原文）Excellent! We went during the summer (August). The property is conveniently about five minutes walk from a lift that takes you up to a viewing spot that connects to other lifts where you can hike. It's also a few minutes walk to Evergreen Outdoor Company (for renting bikes or arranging river or mountain tours), Tokyu Hotel (for onsen), The Beach Bar, and The Pub (which had an awesome outdoor bar and firepit. Although the town is a bit far away, the owners were always happy to help us arrange transportation when we needed it, including shuttling us a few times to and from town.The property is new and very clean and well arranged and stocked. It was perfect for our 5-day getaway from Tokyo. It was quiet, cool, beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable. And again, the service was extraordinarily friendly.We would definitely go back.

There is a variety of food within short walking distance and Darren is more than happy to book and transport you to any resteraunts a little further away. As two families traveling together for our first visit to the Japanese Alps we were looking for a home-from-home and we found it at Big Bear Chalets. Darren is the go-to guy for pretty much everything and he provided a personalised service for our whole stay. We booked well in advance to get inter-connecting chalets, one per family of four. The chalets we stayed in had three queen sized beds; two in one bedroom and one in another. There were two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. The washer dryer was in the downstairs bathroom with a sink, shower and Japanese style bath. The Japanese bath takes a while to fill and has a heater recirculating system which makes for an onsen type experience - it was fabulous. The kitchen had several gadgets but we mainly used the hob, kettle, microwave, full sized fridge, toaster oven and dishwasher (drawer type). The chalet heating is powerful and effective. The TV had English language capability and usb and HDMI ports so the gadget and movie folk were happy. A really decent wifi service is included. The living room was furnished with a 6 seater dining table and two leather couches||Each chalet had a drying room for the snow gear. We used Darren's recommendation for hiring (I think it was Central Snow Sports) they did a pick up and delivery service door-to-door for our skis, poles, boots and goggles.||Darren does daily minibus trips into town: two morning runs for check out (0730 and 0930 I think) and a 1730 trip to the supermarket (what a voyage of discovery!). Darren also told us about the local bars, restaurants and onsens. His recommendations were spot on.||The chalets are very near the Happo One (500m) ski-lifts, but the bus stop is next door so we found that easier with all the gear. The bus stop is called Gakuto where the buses stop for Happo One, Hakuba 47, Goryu Imori, Iwatake, and Tsugaike. The resort buses are free for skiers and boarders, not for shopping. The Highland Shuttles are for shoppers at 500 yen. The night shuttle is for restaurant users etc, and isn't free.||The chalets are located near (as in 1-2 minute walk) the Mominoki Hotel Pub and Beach Bar for apres ski refreshment, and two Japanese restaurants (the Hummingbird is wonderful but advanced bookings are needed because it's so small and popular). There's a little bit of street chatter at closing time but you don't hear it when the triple glazed windows are shut.||Only constructive feedback I can give is that there is an odd window next to the upstairs toilet so we blocked it with cardboard for privacy.||In summary excellent location central to many amenities - the bus-stop was a blessing, with fantastic cheerful and friendly service provision by Darren and his team. Highly recommended for families and groups or anyone wanting a bit of space to chill after a hard day in the snow!

友人3家族(大人6名、子供1名)で2泊してきました。外国人向けペンションなのか、乾燥機つき洗濯機や、広いキッチン（食洗機つき！）、広いリビング（無料WiFiあり）がありました。3ベッドルームなので寝室は別にすることができます。||長期滞在を想定しているようで、十分な設備でした。||ベランダ(屋根つき)にはBBQグリル(ガス)があり、雨天でも屋外BBQが楽しめました。||お皿やグラスも安っぽくなく、友人の家にいるかのようでした。||バスタオル、洗面タオルも用意されており、洗濯機のおかげで、夏場の着替え等も毎日洗濯してキレイなものを使えます。||お風呂はそんなに広くないですが、車で数分のところに温泉が沢山ありました。||また道の駅や地元の野菜を扱うスーパーも車であればすぐ行けるので、外食せずに十分楽しむことができました。||||また夏ですが立地的にかなり涼しく、エアコン要らずでした。||木に囲まれ、割と静かでした。||||マイナス評価な点は、||気にはなりませんでしたが、テレビは電波がきていないのでケーブルテレビのみです。また、木のコテージなので場所により蟻がどこからともなくゴミ箱などに発生します（ベッドなどには来ないので気になりませんでした）。||また、駐車場が1台のみで、2台目以降は一泊1000円で少し離れたところになりそうでしたが、運よく隣が空いていたので無料で使わせてくださいました。
