Bed n breakfast/lodge with shared rooms.Good location, all staff are very helpful. Rooms are warm. Windows look straight out at ski field.There is a bar on the top edge of the lodge that does bar meals and drinks from 11am til late.Popular with Aussies on the hop the ski fields circuit so can be a bit noisy at night.

Absolutely perfect stay, a total 5 star experience.From start to finish this hotel was such a delight to stay at. You’re able to walk out and strap into your ski gear and ride. The view of the chair lift on both aides is an added bonus!We were travelling with a little one and each member of the staff were so kind in assisting us with our ‘unique needs’.We loved that there was a little kids corner placed conveniently to watch the hill.Breakfast was yummy and just made the stay easier. And a dinner on our arrival on the first night was a lovely added bonus!Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our stay special!

Stayed here as a family. A typical on mountain seasonal style hotel. We stayed in a lofted room with private bathroom and a Japanese style room with shared facilities. True to a lot of places in Japan, the walls were a little thin but for heavy sleepers not a problem. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and the facilities were kept very clean.Restaurant and bar prices consistent with mountain and village average - seating proportional to number of rooms and a booking system for dinner for guests. Food was hearty and great after a day out on the mountain. The breakfasts were great (usually buffet style but as we were staying during a time when a stomach bug was going around the mountain, staff served guests in appropriate gear and as far as I know nobody in the hotel got sick, solid protocols).Location is exceptional for keen skiers and snowboarders. Ski gear rentals available via a branch office at set times in the morning and late afternoon. It is on the mountain so be sure to plan meals or outings to town around shuttle times.The staff were friendly and helpful, good team of young folk going above and beyond.All round a great place to stay, very well suited to younger guests and for families with elementary school and up aged kids.

We had a Japanese room with a bunk and shared showers and bathrooms. We were slightly apprehensive. To begin with it was only three of us, but then our daughter joined in and there were no larger rooms left. In any event, it worked a treat and sharing bathroom facilities was painless. (There is a lovely onsite onsen, seldom used except by us. We always walked straight into a shower and the shower rooms were also lovely - in case you were worried - a giant step up from hostel bathroom/showers.) There was certainly no excess room in the bunkroom, but it wasn't an issue as we were rarely in it. The beds were all excellent. A pleasant surprise was the restaurant. The food was really good and we ate there more times than we were expecting. Thanks to the chef. There was also a bar for casual drinks and cards. Possibly one of the reasons we were not in our room much. The ski in/ski out factor was greatly appreciated. I think we would find it hard to stay down in the village now, notwithstanding the slight inconvenience of booking the bus for return in the evenings. I should also mention the lovely staff. Thank you Josie and all others. The hotel has a particularly nice vibe due to its kind and efficient staff. We were appreciative of all.

We stayed here for a week in January and it was amazing. The location is perfect - just a gentle ski down the hill to the gondolas and then from the top of the mountain an easy ski down the forest trail back home at the end of the day. Big piles of powder snow outside the hotel for the kids to play in while the adults keep watch from the warmth of the base camp bar inside! The shuttle bus at night was convenient for getting to/from the village and its not that far to walk over the snow if push comes to shove. The on site gear rental and lessons were also convenient and worthwhile.

It's connected to the hikage area which we found very convenient. We stayed in a Japanese style bunk room, which had a queen bed below and a single bed up top. These rooms don't have a private bathroom, but the toilets were very conveniently located and we had no issues with sharing. Although right next to the bar, we didn't get much ambient noise from the bar and had no problems sleeping at night! Breakfast is complimentary and is nothing ostentatious, but it is delicious and satisfying nonetheless. There are rentals in house and a drying room with a gear storage area - which is a real bonus because you don't need to carry your gear up to the slopes which you see many people doing!! Washing machines and dryers are available for hotel guest use but there is no washing detergent provided, so be sure to bring your own, or the reception also sells some. The free shuttle to / from the Craft Room in the evenings is very convenient for exploring the town! Saves you from having to walk up hill to get back to the hotel.Overall we had a great time at the Schneider! The staff are lovely and so welcoming. We just wished we had stayed longer and we hope to be back soon!

The good: Great on-piste location and well priced. Friendly staff. The rooms are nice and many have good views of the piste. They also have onsite rental and warm gear storage, a bar and a restaurant. The bad: a couple of things. The food. Breakfast is frugal. The limited hot food is average. Cereal selection is 2. Spreads are 2 types of jam and butter. The cut fruit plate lacked tongs with which to pick up pieces. I saw a kid handling fruit with his grubby mitts. When I alerted the waitress, she nonchalantly picked up a spoon and placed it in the fruit. The kid kept handling the fruit. All staff are friendly. Not all helpful. We also had dinner here. Ordered a few things off the menu. Average and expensive. Very average. When I come to Japan, usually about 90% or above of food I have is excellent and food is a major contributing factor to me returning. This food was part of the 10%. Another thing: internet. Registering all bars, not much happening on the browser. For days. The most sluggish I have ever experienced since dial-up. Let reception know. I got a polite 'oh' followed by nothing. Again, friendly but some come with no help attached. I should mention some staff have been super helpful. Should you come? If these cons don't turn you off and delighting your senses is not a priority - yes. The place is cool, there's little spaces for kids to play and even a mini-soccer table we thoroughly enjoyed. I think ignoring the above cons, the place offers excellent value, especially to families.

Amazing lodge, with a very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Literally meters away from two ski-lifts, our room (western family room) was quite small with no places to store your clothes or luggage, but the common areas (Bar, Restaurant, Lobby, Kid's Zone) are great places to hang out, have a drink and make new friends after a day of Ski.

Great Location at the top of the hill. Can ski right out the door. Friendly staff with a bar and pizza place inside. Breakfast buffet too. We had a Japanese style room with a large king size bed and twin bunk beds. The bathroom for these rooms are shared but we didn't have a problem with that.
