水ノ上窯の特徴
洞春寺の敷地内に位置し、自然に囲まれた陶芸窯です。
ハギで12年の修行を経た陶芸家が制作しています。
自然から採取した粘土を使い、独自の作品を生み出しています。

洞春寺の敷地内に令和３年に開いた陶芸窯です。お若い陶芸家さんは、萩焼や磁器を手がける大屋窯で修行されて、縁あって、洞春寺の庫裏そばの納屋のあった場所に窯をひらかれました。不定休とのことですが、平日に洞春寺庫裏のステンドグラスを見に行ったついでに立ち寄ってみたら、いらっしゃったので、いろいろな作品を見せていただき、お話もうかがえてよかったです。湯飲みやコーヒーカップは軽くて使い勝手がよかったです。予約制でろくろ等陶芸体験もできます。
不思議な空間です！カップは萩焼のような外見だけどセラミックのような素材などミックスしているらしく、薄手でとても軽く、飲口が薄くて、とても使いやすい。購入してスグにお気に入りになりました。

Recommended by a local cafe, we were lucky to find this pottery studio and kiln open, quietly and beautifully located in nature, next to Toshinji temple.Gakuji trained for 12 years in Hagi before coming out on his own. Beautiful, hand crafted and made with detail, precision and passion. His skill quietly shows in the simple but amazingly crisp designs. We would have brought home half the shop if we could, but settled for some beautiful tea cups and a mug.He also has a Zen spirit: when asked why he doesn't add his "signature" at the bottom of his pottery, he simply smiled with humility and confidence, saying, "people will know who made them."Showing us his clay, he still goes into the hills to harvest his own, creating his own blends, while continuing to allow nature to surprise and add mystery in every firing. Pottery is not his work,it's his life, his art.Thank you for inspiring us, and hope to meet again one day.
