ヤセザワのマイルストーンは、琵琶峠の西側にある砂丘の塊である。彼らは中山道の登山者が登るのを阻止するために縄跳びされている。これらの墳丘は、近代的な距離スケールで約3.9キロメートルに等しいトレイルをさらに下る次のマイルストーンから1リット離れていた。（原文）The Yasezawa milestone are a pair of earthen mounds on the west side of the Biwa pass (Biwa Toge). They are roped off to discourage hikers of the Nakasendo from climbing them. These mounds were spaced 1 “ri” from the next milestone further down the trail which is equal to about 3.9 kilometres in the modern distance scale.
