仙鳥館の特徴
塀の外からしか見えない神秘的な雰囲気が魅力です。
現在の建物は1846年に再建され、貴重な遺構です。
仙鳥館は1698年に築かれた重要な歴史的建物です。
中には入れません。仙鳥館（仙鳥御屋形）は、元禄11年（1698年）のちの岩国５代領主 吉川広逵（ひろみち）の住居として建設されたもので、２歳の広逵は母とともに仙鳥館に移り住みました。以後、領主子女を養育する建物として利用されました。門の瓦が「両袖瓦（りょうそでかわら）」です。両袖瓦は、岩国独自のものと考えられていましたが、奈良市で岩国より古い瓦が見つかってしまいました。
建物は公開されておらず塀の外から少し見えるのを窺うことができるだけです。

It's a pity that Sencho-kan is not open to the public.It was first built in the 11th year of the Genroku era (1698) as a residence for Kikkawa Hiromichi, who later became the fifth lord of the Iwakuni domain.The current building was constructed in the 3rd year of the Kokka era (1846), after the original building was demolished.Save for some later additions; there have been no major alterations, making it a valuable relic related to a feudal lord from the Edo period.When I was about to leave; I noticed a cat crouching on top of a wall, spying on me. He was probably making sure that I was not trespassing.
