I strongly recommend Kiyoto to enhance your Kyoto experience. Communication and planning was easy through WhatsApp for a couple of months prior to my visit. Kiyoto tailored the time we spent together to my specific interests. He provided history and tales to enrich my experience Kiyoto also offered suggestions as the day went on and he was flexible when I switched things up a bit. I spent one evening in Gion with him and we spent the whole next day together: starting with an early hike of Fushimi Inari and ended with shopping and sushi in the downtown area. Kiyoto knows all the spots for great Japanese food. While I took my own photos, he also took pictures and videos and created a short film that highlighted my trip. He is reasonably priced for the quality guidance he provides. He offers multiple options for payment.
We had a wonderful half-day tour in Kyoto with Kiyoto and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. From the moment we met, he was warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly organized, making the most of our limited time while still allowing us to enjoy each stop at a relaxed pace. It truly elevated our trip and we highly recommend him!

Our experience with kiyoto was nothing short of incredible from start to finish. He crafted the perfect first day for my four friends and my’s girls trip in Kyoto after only a short conversation about our interests! He flexed the agenda perfectly to fit in little markets and shops we stumbled upon, and still managed to fit in multiple temples/shrines, historical areas, a mini food tour and more! He even continued to be available by text in the days that followed to give us tips and recommendations throughout both Kyoto and the areas of all our day trips. The awesome recap video he made of our day was the icing on the cake. Could not recommend involving emperience in your trip more!!

We booked a private, custom walking tour in Kyoto with Kiyoto - and it turned out to be the best tour of our entire Japan trip.From the moment he picked us up from our hotel, he had a great understanding of what we wanted - a mix of culture, local life, and food - and he tailored the day perfectly for our family. We were travelling with our 10-year-old son, and he was incredibly thoughtful about pacing the day. The breaks were timed perfectly, and it often felt like he could read the moment - knowing when we needed a rest, a snack, or something fun to keep our son engaged.He took us through several temples, sharing stories and history with a real passion for his city. But what we loved most was how he introduced us to the people of Kyoto - local food vendors, small family-run spots, and kind older couples who welcomed us with such warmth.We tried local dishes like okonomiyaki and other home-style foods, and even stumbled into a small café where the owners invited us to try on a kimono, play with a samurai sword, and just relax for a while. It felt genuine, personal, and so different from any other tour experience.To top it off, Kiyoto captured photos and short clips throughout the day and surprised us with a beautiful highlight video he created after the tour - such a thoughtful touch.If you’re visiting Kyoto and want more than just sightseeing - if you want to feel the city through its people and culture - we can’t recommend Kiyoto highly enough. A wonderful person, a great guide, and someone who truly understands how to make a day special.

Our day with Kiyoto was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Japan. Traveling as a family of seven—including three children and two grandparents—we appreciated how thoughtful, patient, and accommodating he was with everyone in our group.Before our tour even began, Kiyoto took the time to thoughtfully customize an itinerary that allowed my parents to experience Kyoto’s most iconic sights without the long, strenuous walks. His attention to detail and genuine care for our family’s comfort meant so much to us.During the day, we visited Fushimi Inari Shrine, where we admired the breathtaking Senbon Torii from an easily accessible viewpoint, allowing my parents to experience one of Kyoto’s most famous landmarks without the challenging hike. We also explored the beautiful Hōkan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda) and wandered through the charming streets of Ninenzaka, where every corner felt like a postcard.For lunch, Kiyoto introduced us to a cozy local omurice restaurant that we never would have discovered on our own. It ended up being one of our favorite meals of the entire trip! It was clear that Kiyoto put just as much thought into introducing us to memorable local food as he did into showing us Kyoto’s famous sights.From the moment we met, Kiyoto made us feel less like tourists and more like friends he was excited to share his beautiful city with. His knowledge of Kyoto’s history, culture, and traditions was exceptional, and he shared everything in such an engaging and meaningful way.What stood out most was Kiyoto’s genuine kindness and warmth. He answered every question with patience, made sure everyone—from our children to our parents—was comfortable, and tailored the day to our family’s interests and pace.
