Having stayed in hotels/Ryokans in different Japan trips, I will say this independent unit is exceptional if you are looking for a quiet personal time and space. Location is great for tourist, right in the middle of Ginza business street and the Castle road. The house is very clean with a combination of Japanese and western interior settings. Beddings are super comfortable, tatamis look new, and just like the traditional Ryokan, each area in the house can be separated by sliding Japanese fusuma to prevent disturbance. The best thing is that it provides all the amenities just like your home. Lots utensils for small dishes and making teas/coffees, cooking wares and detergents in the kitchen, shampoo bar in the bathroom, and laundry essentials. I only stayed for 1 night, but it is very suitable for a longer period of stay. Compared to where I’ve stayed, It’s budget friendly, especially for 2+ people. The check in/out was easy and smooth. Owner was very responsive and helpful, so nice even allowing me to take out the laundry after the checkout time. Just to remind future travelers, the washing/drying machine take long time to complete a cycle, so there wouldn’t be enough time to do the laundry in the morning before checkout. Overall a gem in Hikone city.
