After some short wandering back and forth down this short alley of izakayas we decided to leave it to chance and entered an izakaya without knowing its name or what dishes it specializes on.It turned to be a very good choice. The owner and chef, 2-in-1, MrToru was a very amiable person and a skillful cook. While his English was rather limited, another guest who happened to be a local taxi driver gave us a helping hand and translated the communications. Also, after finishing a big bottle of beer, 2 full glasses of Ippongi sake I personally felt my Japanese progressed considerably!😂Toru’s gyozas were just phenomenal. We finished his weekly stock, but did not stop there! The melted cheese and some other dishes were kept coming! 😂It was one of the best dinners we ever had, thanks to Toru and the local taxi driver! Food, ambiance, willingness to overcome language barrier all contributed to the magic of the evening! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Beware, Awara is a small place, so if you eat and drink too much, like we did, the rumors will spread very fast with the help of mass-media! 😉
