A small temple tucked away in a narrow backstreet lined with traditional Japanese houses. There is a little waterway at the entrance to the temple grounds, some red-hatted jizou statues, a Kannon Bodhisattva in a smaller building to the left, and some graves. If you keep going along the narrow road over the river, Ishigatsubo (石ヶ坪山) Mountain on the far side of the bridge can be climbed for a good view over Ogoori (the town in which the bullet train station is located, now a part of Yamaguchi City). The level crossing in the narrow street in front of the temple is itself so narrow that you feel like you can touch the train as it passes. This temple is about 5 minutes from Suō-Shimogō Station, on the Yamaguchi Line, the first stop after the bullet train station. Suō-Shimogō Station is unmanned. I am not sure about the legality but it would be possible to get off the train on the way to Yamaguchi to have a mosey around Ogoori before getting back on the next train and going up to Yamaguchi City.
